29,056, up over 4000 cases so I guess we are not seeing a down turn yet. Uganda needs our help now to Shelter in place
We are fine here at home. Juergen works at the home office. He has the stress of deadlines. He puts in a full day, just from home. Philip has exams coming up, so he studies. Sarah also has a mountain of homework. Jessica gets bored so I drive her about 3 hours a day. We listen to the audible book of Narnia. My energy level is pretty low. I have not gotten much done apart from doing dishes, some cooking. I ordered a nebulizer. My brother suggested it. It should help loosen stuff up in my lungs. I have never had asthma, but this is what I imagine asthma feels like.
The cough is almost gone. And I really am improving. I hope to get some work done in the garden today.
My chief concern at the moment is my women at Suubi Teen MOPS in Uganda. They are afraid. The government has imposed many new restrictions on them. There were 9 new cases of the coronavirus reported in Kampala yesterday. They are trying to totally lockdown this city with 15million people. It seems wise on the outside. But most of the people live in slums. They are overcrowded. They have no place to store food. They cook on fire stoves that require wood charcoal. Most have to boil water 2 hours a day or they will get typhoid fever or cholera. They all pay about 50 USD a month for their shacks. And if they do not work, they will be homeless. And how do you stay home with your children 30 days in a one-room shack anyway? I hear people joking about...should I hang out in my living room or kitchen tonight. We all have internet and TV with hundreds of options of things to watch and learn. Their churches are closed by government order. 100% gated shut. No online services. No emergency food bags. No one has health care. The hospitals are 100% inadequate for the task. The one good thing is the airport is shut. All the rich people and government officials are forced to face the same fate as the poor. If they require treatment they can not fly to some other location. We pray they realize the extent of damage corruption has on the country. Right now we need 35 people to step forward and give us 100 USD to sponsor one of our teen moms. They are forced to stay home for a month. They can not work. We need to support them. I hope it is only for one month. But I need 35 sponsors to give 100 USD or 85 Euro each. The price of everything has gone way up. I also want everyone to pray for UN intervention. Our women have water filters for clean water. We will do all we can to cover them at this time. But there are 16 slums in Kamala where millions of people live on around 2 USD a day. There is the Ugandan military on the streets that beat people to make them remain in their homes. But people are going to starve, and suffer from sicknesses caused by dirty water. They have no soap. Our women managed to hand out 3000 bars of soap in the past month to the poor. They gave all they had. But now they need to shelter in place. And they need our support to do that. We accept PayPal and GoFund me. and direct bank deposit.
